Installing the Window
Once the rough opening has been flashed, then the window buck needs to be installed. When the insulation is more than one and one half inches thick, the windows cannot be secured directly to the wall. There needs to be a support structure for the windows. We used pieces of Advantec flooring, ripped into three and three quarters inch wide strips and then built into a box fitting the window. Furring strips were secured to the front face of the box using screws. The window buck was then inserted into the wall and secured to the wall studs using Headlock screws. The window buck was then sealed to the wall using Fast Flash. The window was then installed into the window buck, and the flanges sealed with Fast Flash.
